About the Author
Lynn H. Turner teaches in the College of Communication at Marquette University. She received her Ph.D. from Northwestern University in 1989. She is the author of several journal articles, books, and book chapters focused on communication studies. She is the recipient of the Marquette University College of Communication Research Award (1998), the Organization for the Study of Communication, Language, and Gender’s Outstanding Book Award (1997) and Outstanding Article Award (2000). She is guest editor (with Richard West) for a special issue of the Journal of Family Communication and she serves on the editorial board of several communication journals. She is the Vice-President of Central States Communication Association and Past-President of the Family Division of the National Communication Association. Her current research interests include family communication, gendered communication, and communication and relationships.

Richard L. West, Ph.D., is Professor and Chair of the Department of Communication Studies at Emerson College. He received his B.A. And M.A. from Illinois State University and his Ph.D. from Ohio University. Rich has been teaching since 1994. He began teaching communication theory as a graduate student and has taught the class with enrollments spanning 12-200 students!

He is the Immediate Past President of the Eastern Communication Association (ECA). He is also past Director of the Educational Policies Board of the National Communication Association (NCA) where he also served as a member of NCA’s Executive Committee. In 2000 and 2001, Illinois State University and Ohio University respectively recognized him as “Outstanding Alumnus in Communication.” In 2008, ECA honored him as a Research Fellow. West is the co-author of nearly 40 articles, essays, and monographs, a presenter of over 50 professional papers, and co-editor (with Lynn Turner) of The Family Communication Sourcebook (Sage Publications). West is the co-author of four books in multiple editions (Introducing Communication Theory, Perspectives on Family Communication, Understanding Interpersonal Communication, Gender and Communication). He is also a current member of seven editorial boards in communication studies.

West’s research centers upon a few different areas: communication and pedagogy, communication themes in the contemporary family, and culture, identity, and human relationships. He is completing a study (with Lynn Turner) on the communication patterns of children in lesbian- and gay-headed households. He is also currently analyzing data that examines the influence of family life on classroom participation.

West’s expertise has been featured in a number of mediated outlets, including the Christian Science Monitor, USA Today, Toronto Globe and Mail, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, New Hampshire Public Radio, Maine Public Radio, www.cbs.com, among others. In addition to NCA and ECA, West is a member of a number of professional organizations: National Communication Association, American Communication Association, Western States Communication Association, Southern States Communication Association, Central States Communication Association, Eastern Communication Association, and the Religious Communication Association.

I never received my textbook, which put me in a position where I had to purchase it from my school book store for 3 times the amount I would have gotten it on here. I almost missed my first assignment waiting for this book to come that NEVER DID! This was my first amazon experience and I must say it'll definitely be my last

About the Author
J�rg Imberger is the Director of the Centre for Water Research and Professor of Environmental Engineering at the University of Western Australia (UWA), where he is a Vice-Chancellor’s Distinguished Fellow. Imberger received his PhD at the University of California, Berkeley in 1970 and became Professor of Environmental Engineering at UWA in 1979.

Got this book for a graduate course. It is quite old but the professor says this is one of the best textbooks you can find that deals with turbulent mixing so he highly recommends it. It turns out that the book is surely one of the best that deals with turbulence and related topics.

It is also a very good reference for engineers who work in this area as it provides numerous tables and experimental results.

Verbose and lacking examples

Although this book includes decent descriptions of the material presented, there are no examples with numbers or problems worked out. Therefore, it does not make it easy to apply the concepts to actual scenarios. If you are expecting traditional "textbook" style, you will not get it with the book.

A very emotional and satisfying romance.......

I really liked these characters. Dexter is just such a fine man and doing so well with becoming a father to his newborn nieces but at the price of his sleep and nerves! Along comes Crystal who needs a job. She's coming out of a some very tough years that she's been sick and now in remission from breast cancer. She also loves babies. Yup...she becomes the live-in nanny for the two beautiful twins that Dexter is losing so much sleep over. I really like Crystal. She's REAL. She's got an uncle living across the street from Dexter, along with two 'adopted' uncles and they are really fun to have around. They also look out for her and that's why they send her across the street to help Dexter when he's just lost (yet) another nanny.

It's a very heartwarming story. The romance builds slowly but surely and they become friends first. I've read this author's books for many years and she NEVER fails to give us an emotionally detailed story. Her writing is always exemplary. Took me awhile to find this story but once I did I HAD to read it and I'm so glad I did.

I'd recommend this story as highly as any. It's just a feel good (and HOT) story. You'll end up loving the characters. It's a book I'll keep and revisit yearly. It's that good.

lovely romance with happy ending: really likeable heroine and hero

The 35-year old heroine (loveable, sweet, and strong) has had a hard hard time. Cancer, loss of a breast, slimy husband leaving in the middle of her chemotherapy, horrid debts for her medical treatment, worry about the return of cancer, certainly that any man who saw her unclothed would run, ...

The 40-year old hero is a fairly successful owner of a real-estate agency. He had a very hard childhood with the only warmth coming from his twin who died soon after she gave birth to the twins he is trying to deal with.

You can guess the rest of the story: some twists, but in the end, they are both what the other really needs, and both get the happiness that neither had even hoped for.

The story is well written, moving (I shed a few tears, which is pretty rare for me), and satisfying.

Matrices are effective tools for the modelling and analysis of dynamical systems. Professor Kaczorek gives an overview of new results in the application of polynomial and rational matrices to continuous- and discrete-time systems. The book is self-contained, beginning with important basics such as the Cayley–Hamilton theorem and definitions and elementary operations of polynomial and rational matrices and moving on to cover such topics as:

• normal matrices (including their realisation);

• rational and algebraic polynomial matrix equations;

• perfect observers for and realisation of linear systems; and

• new results on positive linear discrete- and continuous-time systems with delays.

The text is rounded off with an appendix describing fundamental definitions and theorems relevant to controllability and observability in linear systems.

Polynomial and Rational Matrices will be valuable to researchers in control and/or system theory and will provide useful reference material for graduates studying courses in electronic and computer engineering, mechatronics and electrical engineering.

About the Author

Tadeusz Kaczorek, received the MSc., PhD and DSc degrees from Electrical Engineering of Warsaw University of Technology in 1956, 1962 and 1964, respectively. Between 1968 and 1969 he was the dean of Electrical Engineering Faculty and from 1970until 1973 he was the prorector of Warsaw University of Technology. He has been a full Professor since 1974. In 1996 he was elected as a full member of Polish Academy of Sciences. From 1988 to 1991 he was the director of the Research Centre of Polish Academy of Sciences in Rome. In June 1999 he was elected as a full member of the Academy of Engineering in Poland. In May 2004 he was elected the honorary member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He holds honorary doctorates from the University of Zielona G�ra (2002), the Technical University of Lublin (2004), the Technical University of Szczecin (2004) and Warsaw University of Technology (2004).

His research interests cover the theory of systems and the automatic control systems, particularly singular multidimensional systems, positive multidimensional systems and singular positive 1- and 2-dimensional systems. He has researched the field of singular and positive 2-dimensional linear systems. He has published 18 books (5 in English) and over 700 scientific papers (in journals like IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks, Multidimensional Systems and Signal Processing, International Journal of Control, Bull. Pol. Acad. Sciences, etc.) and proceedings of conferences. He has presented more than 100 invited papers to international conferences and world congresses and has given invited lectures in more than 50 universities in the US, Canada, UK, Germany, Italy, France, Japan, Greece etc. He has been a member of many international committees and programme committees.

Professor Kaczorek has supervised over 60 Ph.D. theses. More than 20 of this PhD students have become professors in the US, UK and Japan. He is Editor-in-Chief of Bulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Techn. Sciences and editorial member of about ten international journals.
