To any college students that are looking at this because it's half the price of your college bookstore: Make sure the ISBN numbers match. I didn't realize that this was NOT what I was looking for, and now I have to buy a completely different one. It works great if you get the right one, but I'm giving it 1 star because there is no disclaimer on the product. I am now registered for an account that I can't use because it's not the correct one for my Psych 100 class. So be warned. Check your ISBN number before buying it.

I was surprised of how cheap the access code was, but it turned out the code didn't work at all. I had to buy the new access code from their website which costed me around 96 dollars.

Whenever Autodesk releases a major update to the Revit product I look forward to these authors publication. They are quite through with the Revit product and do not leave behind knowledge of past releases. I do recommend this book to the students who are in a Revit class here at the technical college as a great reference to the class.

Not as good as the first edition

The first edition of Martin and Barkley(1961)was a tremendously useful volume and this newer edition is simply a reprint. The main problem with it (and reason for only four stars) is the photo quality is very poor compared to the original. I've made photocopies of the original that look better than those in the current edition. I was dissapointed by that, however, the book stands alone as there are really no other references like it. If you can obtain the earlier edition at a reasonable price I'd recomend that you get it, but if you can't this adequate.

"Traffic Tickets What a Pain
Every police officer is issued a traffic summons book when he is
assigned to a district. The supervisors have what we used to call a quota
on tickets issued. When an officer is assigned to the traffic division, he is
expected to write at least eight moving violations a shift. But that is all he
has to do; he doesn t handle any crime scenes or domestic disturbances
or whatever else comes along. On occasion, he has to handle a traffic
accident, but that's about all. Don t get me wrong. I hated to write
tickets, especially moving violations like red lights, speeding, or no left
turn. Parking tickets were also a pain in the ass; all they accomplish is
that the poor soul that gets the ticket now hates you.
I guess that they are a necessity though, and maybe in some way
they help keep drivers from getting too crazy behind the wheel of their
car or truck. Personally, I would rather be out in the street locking up
bad guys and harassing gang bangers. Some of these traffic guys really
like working traffic, giving out their quota of summons, and putting a
few drunk drivers in jail before they kill somebody or themselves.
People that get stopped by the police for a traffic violation really
come up with some original excuses. I remember an elderly lady that we
stopped for driving the wrong way on a one-way street. This violation
is usually an open-and-shut case. When I asked her for her driver s
license and explained why we had stopped her, she called me a liar
and asked why wasn t I out chasing down dope dealers or communists
instead of bothering a woman alone in a car trying to get home.
20 DON HERION
No matter what I said to her, she had a look of hate in her eyes;
and if she had a gun, she would have shot me dead. When I began
opening the summons book to write her the ticket, she pulled an
acting job on me that was a beauty. The first thing she did was to roll
her eyes up in her head and then grab her heart like she was going to
have a heart attack right there. Well, needless to say, she hit the right
button and her act worked. Even though I knew she was probably
faking it, I didn t want to take a chance of her dropping dead in front
of me. I asked her if she needed an ambulance or wanted to be taken
to the nearest hospital. She said that she only lived two blocks from
there and that her heart pills were in her bathroom. She explained
that if she got them, she was sure to be OK. Well, at this point, I was
pretty aggravated and couldn t imagine myself giving this wacky broad
mouth-to-mouth resuscitation if she was telling the truth. Of course,
I told her that we would be glad to drive her home if she couldn t
drive. She said no, that she felt better, and she thought that she could
drive home OK.
I said, OK, lady, under the circumstances, I won t give you a ticket
this time but that you had better be more alert in the future. I just knew
that I made this old broad's day when she thought she really bullsh*tted
me about the heart attack. To top it off, when she was driving away,
she winked at me and said, Thanks, Officer, have a nice day.
The best part of all is when I got back in the squad car, my partner
Bob was just shaking his head and laughing. It seems that he had
stopped this old witch in the past for doing the same thing and she
pulled the heart attack routine on him too. He admitted that he didn t
want to take a chance and have the old broad drop dead on him either
and gave her a pass. The thing that got him was when her eyes went
up in her head and all he could see was the whites of her eyes. Later
on, we talked to a few of the other guys that were working in that part
of the district, and they all had st

THIS BOOK SHOULD BE A MOVIE. A behind the scenes detailed view of the Chicago Crime Syndicate through the eyes of a Detective Police Sergeant personally making raids for 40 years while fighting the mob...not just a bunch of words from some researcher. The book details the who, the what, and the way the Chicago mob has murdered 150 informants, gamblers who owe $$, and their competition. Not just rumors about the mob and how they work...documents, photos, arrest information and "mob family" ties finally revealed. This is the real deal. Only a street cop could provide previously unknown facts about the murderous ways of the syndicate.
Herion was also an advisor on the recent Dillenger movie "Public Enemy" with Johnny Depp, and on several other movies.

This book really sheds the light on the power and control the Chicago mob had going for it. It even reveals how the FBI intercepted wiretaps of mob chieftains using their power to have Sgt. Don Herion transferred to police uniform subway duty. Herion was a thorn in their side, and they did get him transferred. But he did return to the Vice unit to continue the raids against record numbers of mob bosses and hitmen. Again, a total look at Organized Crime through the eyes of an enforcement officer.

ITS A MUST READ!!!!!!!

If you want a detailed view of what the Chicago mob was like and how things happened in the good old days when the mob was running loose in Chicago then this is the book to read. The book provides accurate first hand details from a man who was there to be apart of it all. Through his many years of fighting crime Herion writes about the events and stories of his life, while giving the reader an idea of who was in the mob, what was going at the time, and giving the reader an idea of what the mob is all about. The photos, the details and all the information make this book a must read. After reading Herion's first book Pay Quit or Die, i knew that the next book would not disappoint. Its a very interesting book and the information, details, and pictures are all first hand things from the guy who was there to see it himself. Herion's experience and expertise were used in the Johnny Depp film that recently came out Public Enemies, so you know that the book is going to be good. Having read both of his books I can say that they are both really good and definitely a must read. You wont be disappointed.

A very good, thorough resource

This is a very good, thorough resource. The look inside doesn't show any pages with photo buyers but it includes a name of the publication/agency, a description, contact info, Needs,Specs, Making Contact & Terms and Tips. Not all the publications have all the info. It depends on what they submitted. The book also uses icons to let you know how much they pay ($, $$...), US, Canada or international based, how open they are to submissions (accepts work from unpublished photographers to no unsolicited submissions), uses stock images or images created on assignments, juried/non-juried art fairs.

The book comes with a code to subscribe to their online version, artistsmarketonline.com for free. That is much less useful. It is not as thorough or detailed as the book. Many of the listings included in the book are not found online. I compared the same publication in the book and online. The online listing had only general contact and a website whereas the book as a description, the needs (how many photos they buy and what type), Specs (photo format & sizes), and how to make contact. You can save listings to a contact folder so for the few that are online, that may be useful instead of typing them from the book. But there doesn't appear to be a way to export contacts so you have to copy/paste.

A Great Resource to Update Every Year, Especially for the Freelancer

This book is a good resource to keep updated every year, especially if you are a freelance photographer. The Photographer's Market keeps updated information on agencies and publications: their contact information, contact terms, requirements and pay. Of course what is available is dependent on what information is submitted. Another useful inclusion: the book tells you how open a publication or agency is to submissions- Ex: whether they accept work from unpublished photographers, or if they use stock images, images created on assignments, etc.

In addition to submission information, The Photographer's Market has useful articles. If you take the time to read them you may learn a lot, from the novice photographer to the more advanced photographer. There's a little something for everyone.
